UPVC

Casement
Casement windows swing out to the side or up to open. This allows the window to be constructed of solid glass and offers a less obstructed view overall.
A casement is a window that is attached to its frame by one or more hinges at the side. They are used singly or in pairs within a common frame, in which case they are hinged on the outside. Casement windows are often held open using a casement stay. Windows hinged at the top are referred to as awning windows, and ones hinged at the bottom are called hoppers.
Casement windows are also excellent for natural ventilation especially in hot climates. Casements allow more control of ventilation than flush-opening windows. They can be hinged to open outward and angled in order to direct breezes into the building.
Tilt and Turn
A tilt and turn window fundamentally opens on two axis tilting when ventilation needed and turning mainly to provide a means of escape from a room in case of fire. In the tilt position, the window tilts inwards into the room – remaining fixed at the base.
Tilt and turn windows can be opened fully like a casement window, inwards or they can be tilted from the bottom so that the top of the window is angled into the room, giving a smaller opening for ventilation. The tilted opening also has the added benefit of increased security and safety as no one can fit through the gap.
Sash
A sash window is made of two movable panels, or “sashes”, that form a frame to hold panes of glass.
The sashes will slide up or down with weights and cords, or more recently, spiral balances, allowing you to open the window. When closed, the top and bottom sash will be locked together at the midrail to prevent them sliding.
